Registering Trainz Tutorial

In this tutorial you will learn how to register TRS2006 with Planet Auran and activate CMP.

This tutorial assumes you are already registered with Planet Auran. If you are not then please follow this link and become a registered user.

1. Planet Auran

To access the download station you need to register your TRS2006 serial number with Planet Auran. Select the "Planet Auran" link on the menu that appears at the bottom of the screen at the website or the forums and a "Planet Auran" popup should appear. From the menu at the left of the popup select "Serial No." and you will be taken to the page with all your serial numbers listed. In the text entry boxes provided type in your serial number. It should consist of six blocks of four figures which can be either letters or numbers. The serial number for the DVD Limited Edition can be found on the outside of the back cover of the paper based manual. The serial number for the CD based version can be found on either the inside front cover, or the outside of the back cover of the small paper based manual included with the program. If you cannot find the serial number in either of these locations then try a quick look through the rest of the manual and if you still cannot find the serial number then contact the Help Desk at Auran. Once you have typed in the serial number, select "Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006" from the "Product" drop down box and then select the purchase location from the "Purchase Product" drop down box. Once the form is complete click on the "SUBMIT" button and the serial number should appear in the list of "Registered Serial Numbers".

2. Setting up CMP

Now that Planet Auran is set up with the serial number we need to set up CMP so that it can authenticate the user ID's eligibility to download content. Go to the "File" menu and select "Settings" from the menu. Once the "Settings" window is open select the "Internet" tab. Here you will see the "User name:" and "Password:" text boxes. Enter the same username and password you used to register with Planet Auran. If you make an error in either the username or the password then you will not be able to use CMP to download content. Normally you would use the default settings for the remaining internet settings however if you find that CMP will not let you view the assets on the download station and provided you have entered your details correctly then you may need to change these settings. Once you have added the user details switch to the Miscellaneous tab and enter you user ID into the space provided. You can find your User ID from the Planet Auran popup. Once done ensure the remaining settings are correct for your system and click on the "Save" button. After a few seconds the "Register my serial number" message will disappear and you will be able to add items to the "Download Helper"

3. Alternative method

If you are already registered with Planet Auran then you can enter your user details in CMP first and then click on the "Register my Serial number" button in CMP's "Download Helper" and the "Planet Auran" serial number page will automatically appear.

You can also use the TRS2006 launcher program to enter your user details. Select the "Options" button and enter your username and password.
