About Me

Trainz, as you know was created by a company called Auran, which is located in Australia.
Australia uses the Metric System and the United States uses the Feet and Inches system.

Since I live in the United States, sometimes it is very hard for me to visualize the size of something, so I figure it in Feet and then convert it to Meters.

I have searched the net for the best conversion routines for converting US to Metric.

To Convert To Multiply By This Number
feet centimeters 0.03281
inches
centimeters
0.3937
miles
kilometers
0.62
feet
meters 3.2808
inches
meters 39.37
miles meters 0.0006214
yards meters 1.0936
inches millimeters 0.04
meters feet 0.3048
centimeters inches 2.54
millimeters inches 25.4
kilometers miles 1.609347
meters yards 0.9144

What all this means is:

In Metric
10 millimeters = 1 centimeters
100 centimeters = 1 meter
1000 millimeters = 1 meter
1000 meters = 1 kilometer

In US Measurement
inches are split into fractions
12 inches = 1 foot
3 feet = 1 yard
5280 feet = 1 mile

Now comes the hard part
1 inch = 2.54 centimeters
39.370079 inches = 1 meter
3.280840 feet = 1 meter
1 horse power = 0.746 kilowatt
1 kilowatt = 1.34 horse power

So the next time someone from Auran tells you to place your couplings 0.89 meters above the tracks, we can tell them it's 35.039368 inches here in the USA.

I am keeping graphics to a minimum, so I have room on the site for important stuff.
